Event description

Description

This walk explores the story of how the City has developed since the Second World War. We will see the amazing variety of new building across the City and learn about some of their unusual features. We look at buildings from big name architects such as Richard Rogers and Norman Foster as well as lesser known names such as Eric Parry and Rafael Viñoly.

We learn how the City has been in a constant state of reinvention - from the utopian ambitions of Post War reconstruction via the first truly tall buildings of the 1960s to the modern day building boom. And we see how the street pattern of the old city lives on in surprising ways as architects rise to the challenge of redeveloping in the confines of an old City.

This walk is not just for those interested in architecture and town planning. This walk will show the familiar City in a new light.
