About this event

Originally a picturesque village on the outskirts of London and now a vibrant part of the inner city, Islington was home to a significant Jewish population 200 years ago, and remained so until the middle of the 20th century. But as London expanded and earlier inhabitants drifted outwards, the Jewish presence in these parts was forgotten.

Petra Laidlaw is the author of The Jewish Communities of Islington, 1730s-1880s, and in this talk will help illuminate some of these forgotten Jewish stories of Islington.

The event is FREE but booking is required. Suitable for all ages.

The event will take place in Islington Town Hall in Committee Rooms 5&6.

This talk is part of Jewish Reform Pioneers: Uncovering BPR Cemetery's Hidden Stories. A parternship between Islington Council and West London Synagogue, made possible by funds from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
