This new tour will focus on the industrial and commercial heritage of the River Tone between the North Street bridge in the centre of Taunton and French Weir Park on the edge of Long Run Meadow, an important part of the town’s flood defence and home to an extensive range of flora and fauna.
Our 1.5-2.0 km route will take us along fairly level paths and pavements and will provide a glimpse into a now forgotten world when the River Tone was the centre of a thriving import/export trade that contributed so much to the town’s prosperity.
Walking duration approximately 2hrs.
The tour will start at the Museum of Somerset.
