Dare Devil Rides To Jarama tells the story of Clem Beckett, a Speedway rider from Oldham. Like millions of others in the 1930's, he saw with horror the rise of Fascism in Italy and Nazism in Germany. In July 1936, a Spanish General, Francisco Franco, led a military coup against the Spanish Government. By October The International Brigades were formed and men and women from around the world went to Spain to fight against this insurrection.
Clem Beckett was one of them. In Spain he became a friend and comrade of Christopher Caudwell, poet and philosopher. They died together at the Battle Of Jarama.
