Description

TOY BOX CAMPAIGN FOR CHILDREN OF LOCAL REFUGEES

DEADLINE EXTENDED: WEDNESDAY 13TH DECEMBER AT 12 NOON

It can be hard enough for any of us to make ends meet at Christmas – but for refugees it is particularly tough.

Families who have just arrived in the UK are juggling a new language, new culture and a very limited budget – meaning children sometimes go without gifts.

Now is your chance to help by contributing to Toy-Shoe-Box Campaign.

The campaign involves filling a shoe box with toys and donating them for a refugee child in Oxfordshire to enjoy. It’s being run by the AAD’s Student Affairs team in the Exam Schools, and follows previous work facilitating free English lessons for the refugee community.

To take part, all you need to do is:

  1. Register above, and select the age and gender of the child you want to donate to
  2. Find a shoe box (or equivalent sized box) and wrap it in colourful paper (don't forget to add the age range to the lid - please add a post-it note indicating contents)
  3. Fill it with presents.
  4. Deliver the box to the Student Information box in the foyer of the Exam Schools by 5pm on Monday 11 December.

The boxes will be taken to the Rose Hill Community Centre ready to be shared with refugee families in time for Christmas. Further notes on types of presents we are looking for, and what to do with the boxes are below.

If you have any questions, please contact tara.prayag@admin.ox.ac.uk.

This is a completely voluntary campaign and you are not obliged to take part, but thank you in advance for anyone who decides to help out.

Bring your box to the Exam Schools and leave in the Student Information Box (we'll move it to the storage area) by 12 noon on Wednesday 13th December.
