Charity Governance - Donald McPherson Former Company Secretary Alliance Trust and Chair of ACK's Board

Join us on Thursday 22nd February for a one-off TrACK Masterclass on charity governance. This 3 hour training session is essential to charity board members, trustees, and senior staff. It will focus on the Charity Governance Code, which now applies to charities in England & Wales, and its relevance to Scottish charities.

What topics will this course cover?

  • The relevance of corporate governance to charities: Explaining why good governance is important to charities and the responsibility of trustees for ensuring this.
  • Principles of good governance: Setting out how each of the following principles contribute to a strong governance framework - Organisational purpose, Leadership, Integrity, Decision-making, risk & control, Board effectiveness, Diversity, and Openness & accountability.
  • A practical action plan: outlining the steps charities can take to strengthen their governance and how to communicate this to their stakeholders.

This course is open to staff or volunteers from third sector organisations, community groups or individuals who are starting out or keen to learn or refresh knowledge on some of the fundamental areas of the third sector.

The Circle Dundee on Staffa Place has ample parking but can be easily reached from the town centre on the 10a, 1a, 12 and 1b bus services.
