About this event

Expect a mix of sculpture, film, painting, textiles, and photography illuminated by the artists’ own voices. If you’re drawn to art that reflects the land and the lives shaped by it, join us for this thoughtful and inspiring event and meet the artists behind the Tractored by Beetles exhibition.

This is an evening of rich conversation with six extraordinary artists; Alice Crane, Jon England, Liz Gregory, Fiona Hingston, Tim Martin, and André Wallace, all gathered to share insights into their work for the exhibition.

Rooted in the landscapes of the West Country and inspired by Simon Armitage’s evocative poem Fugitives, the exhibition explores how art emerges from landscapes, memory and the passing of time. Through methodologies of collecting, making journeys, or very specific studio practices, each artwork is uniquely grounded in personal journeys, collecting practices, and deep engagement with place.

What to Expect

  • A chance to engage and ask questions
  • Honest, humorous, and thought-provoking conversation
  • Behind-the-scenes insight into the artists’ creative processes
  • Reflections on landscape, memory, and transformation
