Description

Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom, is organising a “Opportunities in Spain” event on 4th July 2019.

Why Do Business in Spain?

  • Economy: Spain has a modern, knowledge-based economy, in which services represent 75% of its business activity. According to the Global Competitiveness Report published by the World Economic Forum, which includes economic growth factors, Spain ranks 26th. Spain also ranks 30th in the Ease of Doing Business Index of 2019.

  • Infrastructure: The Global Competitiveness Report 2016, published by the World Economic Forum (WEF), ranks Spain in 12th place worldwide in terms of infrastructures and logistical services. Infrastructures in Spain are a "role model" worldwide. There are 4 Spanish ports among Europe's 25 most important ports.

  • Workforce: Spain ranks among the top three European countries as regards number of employees holding university degrees. This is in line with the leading European economies.

  • Tax system: Spain's tax system is modern and competitive. The Spanish Tax Agency is one of Europe's most modern tax agencies, always state-of-the-art in its offer of electronic public services, like the obtention of tax certificates or the presentation of tax declarations online. Spain imposes a moderate taxation, below the average of the EU-28 and the Eurozone.

  • Tourism: Tourism Revenues in Spain averaged 3198.24 EUR Million from 1993 until 2019, reaching an all time high of 8015 EUR Million in August of 2018. According to the data published by the World Bank, on international tourism, Spain has seen a high number of arrivals in 2017, of 1.341billion.

  • Investment: According to the FDI Regulatory Restrictiveness Index of the OECD, Spain is the ninth country worldwide with more open regulations regarding international investment.

About the Spanish Chamber in the United Kingdom

Founded in 1886 and based in London, the Chamber offers both Spanish and British companies the opportunity to promote themselves commercially in both markets via a wide range of services including promotion, networking, information and advice, training, commercial development, business collaboration, logistic and administrative support.The Chamber gives companies access to essential information regarding the various markets in Spain and in the United Kingdom, and they can also take advantage of the technical support.

A technical discussion on opportunities and challenges for north west firms operating with Spain, based on three core sectors (tbc):

2) A Spanish company (which has successful experience of investing in the UK)

Who should attend this event?

Companies who are looking to expand to Spain. Please note that exporters of goods and companies interested in expansion will be given priority over service providers.

Costs: This event is free of charge, but registration is required.

Cancellation Terms

In case you are no longer able to attend this event, please note you must cancel your place at least 5 working days before the event. The cancellation must be in writing and sent to exportbritain@gmchamber.co.uk indicating the event you are cancelling for and delegate(s) details. Failure to do so will incur in a cancellation fee as follows: £10+VAT for members per delegate and £15+VAT for non-members per delegate.
