IMPORTANT BIT! PLEASE READ!
Hello, stallholder - and a very warm welcome to the Surrey Steampunk Convivial!
The Surrey Steampunk Convivial IX
The Royal Oak & Christ Church, New Malden, Surrey, UK
Two glorious days of eccentric steampunk madness:
Saturday 4th Nov 2017 from 10:00 AM (GMT) - Late
Sunday 5th Nov 2017 from 10:00 AM (GMT) - Late
There are two markets with a distinctly different flavour at the Convivial:
- The Large Market, at Christ Church, Sat 4th Nov 2017
- The Small Market, at The Royal Oak, Sat 4th and Sun 5th Nov 2017
THE LARGE MARKET
Location: CHRIST CHURCH HALL - Christ church 91 Coombe Road, New Malden, Surrey, KT3 4RE
Date: Sat 4th November 2017
Time: Access from 9am, stall open to public from 10am - ish - early evening. I am currently looking into the possibility of access being granted from Friday the 29th, but stay tuned in to the Facebook group for details. If we can set up on Friday night, you may leave items in situ overnight, but do bear in mind that it will be at your own risk.
We are negotiating the possibility of setting up on the Friday at both the church and the pub: do come and join us for food and a beer if you can!
There are a greater number of stalls available at Christ Church, but the market will only run on the Saturday. Access is on the ground floor, and there is a disabled ramp available too, if required. Tables can be provided, or you may bring your own. Tea and coffee will be available in the kitchen, with a donation pot once again.
This year, we have been warned that the car park sadly might not be available to us because there are building works planned - but there will be a bit of unloading space there. It's a bit of a pain, and I do apologise about this. Fortunately, we are able to make use of the car park opposite the pub car park - hooray!
There is also a car park in Blagdon Road which is open from 08:00-22:00 which is £0.90 / 1 hour. There also should be plenty of parking in the nearby streets.
There is much more information about the venue here:
THE SMALL MARKET
Location: FUNCTION HALL AT THE ROYAL OAK 90 Coombe Road, New Malden, Surrey, KT3 4RE
Date: Sat 4th and Sun 5th November 2017
Time: Access from 9am, stall open to public from 10:30am - until 11:30ish.
Once again we shall be allowed to set up on Friday night a bit earlier!
The smaller market (on both days) is located at The Royal Oak pub, New Malden, Surrey KT3 4RD. There is a small car park at the Royal Oak pub, which may be used for loading. In the past, the Royal Oak have let us in the night before to set up, which might work well for some of you. I'm happy to confirm that we have booked out the Royal Oak for the Friday as well...for the "Pre-event Traders Knees Up."
You may leave items in situ overnight if you wish between Friday and Sunday, but please bear in mind it will be at the stallholders risk. There is CCTV in the main hall, but not in the adjoining room, but the door will be locked overnight.
There are limited stalls available at The Royal Oak, but the benefit is that the market runs for both days: Saturday and Sunday. The market is upstairs in the Function Hall, and access is either through the back door of the pub (near the car park), or up the exterior stairs from the garden. Tables can be provided. Plus, there's beer downstairs.
Please feel free to advertise the event in any way you please: the more people come along on the Saturday the better!
There is a suggested dress code for traders which is Victorian/Steampunk - and whilst dressing up is not compulsory of course, it is highly encouraged!
Stall allocation is on a first come, first served basis: we don't heavily curate the market: you are free to sell what you like, where you like - you get to choose your neighbours for the day, and locate your pitch. Gosh, a bit of freedom from the red tape, eh?
Ways to pay: Once again, we are using Eventbrite to create tickets in order to book a stall. Please select the type of stall you wish to book and purchase the ticket for the stall.
If you cannot pay digitally it is possible (but a bit of a pain) to pay using cash in advance to book a stall:
Please send your payment (and an explanation of where you wish to book!) to:
Ben Henderson, 21, Rushmere Court, The Avenue, Rushmere Court, Surrey, KT4 7EP
*Please bear in mind that digital payments go through first, so in order to secure a stall, it is Victorian stall rules: first come, first served!
If you have any questions please do let me know: I want this to be a good experience for you and will do whatever I can to make you feel happy.
