Future drivers of global trade – Insights and Implications

From increased protectionism and resource scarcity to digital disruption and the emergence of new, agile competitors the landscape for global trade is becoming even more uncertain and unpredictable. It seems the global consensus that irreversible globalisation will deliver benefits for all may be breaking down. So amid the often confusing tensions between competition, conflict and collaboration how can companies navigate the future global ‘tradescape’?

You are invited to participate in an event at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness on Wednesday 21st June (12pm – 2pm) to explore what’s driving the future of global trade and to discover the implications for your organisation.

The event will provide an opportunity to:

  • Hear the findings of recent research undertaken by Scottish Enterprise and Invest Northern Ireland, including interviews and surveys of the GlobalScot and Northern Ireland Connections networks worldwide

  • Explore a range of future scenarios developed by Scottish Enterprise that offer a framework for identifying strategic opportunities and responses

  • Identify the potential implications for your own organisation and hear directly from other participants to gain insight into their own international strategies. This includes growth companies, trade bodies, GlobalScots and project partners – Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, VisitScotland, Invest Northern Ireland and the Department for International Trade.
