Traditional Building Skills Workshops at Mantilla Row

Demonstration and practical session on Stonemasonry and Limepointing.

Date 1: Thursday 19th October 2017 (9.30am-12.30pm )

Date 2: Friday 27th October (9.30am-12.30pm)


Take part in an expert-led demonstration to learn about the traditional skills and materials used to build the iconic village of New Lanark, which is now one of Scotland's 6 World Heritage Sites. The workshops will include practical demonstrations and a hands on session on Stonemasonry and Limepointing.

  • Adults Only
  • Sensible footwear required
  • All other safety equipment provided

Places are limited on the Traditional Building Skills Demonstrations so please pre-book your FREE place via Eventbrite as soon as possible if you would like to attend. If you book a place but then have to cancel please let us know as soon as possible by emailing marketing@newlanark.org so we can offer your place to someone on the waitiing list.

Total costs for this large scale regeneration project are over £4m. The two main funders are the Heritage Lottery Fund through its Townscape Heritage (TH) programme and Historic Environment Scotland through its Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS). Additional funding has been secured from the Renewable Energy Fund (South Lanarkshire Council), The Wolfson Foundation and New Lanark Trust.
