About this event

Music • Folk

Billy Harrison (1898-1986) was fiddle and cello player. Born in the Yorkshire Wolds village of Nunburnholme, his repertoire included unusual country dance tunes, popular songs, and local carols learnt from past generations of his family and played with his brother Bob and his father Harry. He shared these with Hull-based leading folk musician Jim Eldon during a long friendship and was featured on Radio Humberside and the Musical Traditions magazine. The Billy Harrison String Quartet play traditional music recreating the songs, tunes, and family carols of the Harrison family. Led by Jim Eldon (fiddle), with Corona Smith (2nd fiddle), Mossy Christian (viola) and Kevin Holland (cello), expect jolly tunes and rousing carols!
