Event description
A traditional plough service at Chester Cathedral to give thanks for the land and those who work it.

About this Event

Traditional plough services have been held for centuries as a way of giving thanks for the land and all those who work it.

At a time when there is an increase in uncertainty for our farmers and the recent closure of the livestock market at Beeston continues to affect those in the farming community, we want to bring farmers, their families and their staff together to celebrate all that is good about agricultural life and the agricultural community in Cheshire.

Join us at Chester Cathedral and give thanks. We will bless a plough and pray for favourable weather upon the land in 2020 and thank our farmers and their staff for all that they do to work the land and produce the food we eat.

Plough services date back to Medieval times when the village church kept the plough for the community.

Light refreshments will be available following the service.
