Traditional Portuguese Tile Painting Workshop

About this workshop:

In this workshop you are going to develop the traditional technique of painting traditional Portuguese tiles from the XVII century with blue cobalt pigment, recreating tiles with single figures from both fauna and flora or other typical themes. You will be able to paint 3 different tiles, that will be then cooked and delivered to you in a maximum of a week time.

Your teacher will be a reputed local artist, that was born in France but lives and works currently in the Algarve. She has always developed aptitude for the arts. She graduated in Design from IADE in Lisbon and later attended a course of painting tiles and ceramics. She has her own studio of painting tiles and ceramics. She is also a teacher of creative ceramic courses and a passionate for ceramics. She also works with clay, which enables her to combine two of her passions: illustration and sculpture. Her most recent work is a tribute to the underwater world of the oceans, filled with treasures, where the details of the corals come to life in a subtle delicacy of shapes and textures.

Workshop de Pintura de Azulejos Tradicionais Portugueses

Neste workshop irá desenvolver a técnica tradicional de pintura de azulejos tradicionais portugueses do século XVII com pigmento de cobalto azul, recriando azulejos com figuras únicas da fauna e da flora ou outros temas típicos. Poderá pintar 3 azulejos diferentes, que lhe serão depois cozinhados e entregues num período máximo de uma semana.

A professora trata-se de uma artista local de renome, que nasceu em França, mas que vive e trabalha actualmente no Algarve. Ela sempre desenvolveu aptidões para as artes. Licenciou-se em Design pelo IADE em Lisboa e mais tarde frequentou um curso de pintura de azulejos e cerâmica. Tem o seu próprio estúdio de pintura de azulejos e cerâmica. É também professora de cursos de cerâmica criativa e uma apaixonada pela cerâmica. Também trabalha com barro, o que lhe permite combinar duas das suas paixões: a ilustração e a escultura. O seu trabalho mais recente é uma homenagem ao mundo subaquático dos oceanos, cheio de tesouros, onde os detalhes dos corais ganham vida numa delicadeza subtil de formas e texturas.
