Event description

Description

Using traditional rag rug making techniques such as Hooky, Proddy and Quillie, the workshop will focus on creating beautiful fabric flowers that can be used to customize either a hat, a bag, a hair ornament or perhaps a small cushion or pillow. Participants are invited to bring along any of the listed items for customization, to enable colour and style matching.

Participants will be shown each technique, beginning with basic prodding, through to more unusual techniques such as Quillie. They will be shown how to choose and prepare fabrics appropriately, how to use the different rugmaking tools and how to blend and work with colour.

We will use examples of British flora and fauna for our inspiration.
All fabrics and tools will be provided although if participants have any old clothes or fabrics they would like to recycle they are welcome to bring them.
