Trafford Housing Trust would like to change how it invests money in your community and the way decisions are made about where to spend that money. Before we start making any changes we need to update the commitment made to the Council and tenants in the 2005 stock transfer agreement and we want hear opinions from local tenants.
When Trafford Housing Trust was first set up a commitment was made to tenants to:
“Establish annual budgets for each of the 5 area housing panels at £120,000 for each of the next 30 years. Use these budgets to carry out a range of environmental and security improvements to areas where the Trust operates, with priorities agreed in consultation with local residents”
Over the last 10 years we have spent over £6 million in this way. Building on this experience we would now like to make some changes to how we invest into communities to widen the scope of our investment to deliver greater impact on local needs. In order to make this change we would like to have agreement for your support of a new promise that:
“THT will invest at least £10 million over the next 10 years to tackle local priorities in Trafford and we will involve local residents in the identification and selection of these local priorities.”
We our holding these frop-in meetings to help local residents understand the original commitment and the change we are proposing. These discussions will centre around:
•The last 10 years of community funding
•The current process of community funding
•The changes we propose to make
•The proposed new model of community investment
•How you can express your view
