Trailblazers! How Soho's music clubs shaped Rock and Pop.

From rock 'n roll's arrival in the late 1950s, through 1960s rhythm & blues and psychedelia to the dawn of punk in the 1970s, Soho's music clubs blazed an unforgettable trail. Visiting the sites of legendary clubs, this walk stirs memories of misspent youth, and makes for a great tour of Soho.

Join Alan to explore sites of Soho’s legendary music clubs, and understand the links between the music played at the clubs and the counter cultures and fashions of the time. The sites include the R&B, bluebeat and ska club which now houses a designer boutique, the coffee bar which saw the birth of skiffle and the rise of the UK’s first genuine rock star, the club which hosted Jimi Hendrix’s first UK performance, and the studio where David Bowie recorded ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Beatles ‘Hey Jude’.
