Description

Trailblazing Women On and Off Screen International Conference, University of Greenwich

Monday 18 June and Tuesday 19 June 2018, 9.00am to 5.30pm

This is a solution-focused two-day international conference bringing together industry practitioners and political leaders, academics and students to discuss the role of women working on and off screen.

The conference is sponsored by Women in Film & Television (UK), The National Association for Higher Education in the Moving Image, The Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association Policy Network and Women’s Film and Television History Network - UK/Ireland.

The aim of the conference is to build on the contemporary conversations and debates and provide an opportunity to celebrate the incredible work of women who have been blazing a trail in the screen industries, past and present.

This has been a landmark year for women and there is a lot to celebrate, yet the latest studies still show that there is a long way to go until women achieve equality on screen and behind the scenes. This conference aims to support, champion and find solutions to creating a more diverse and welcoming entertainment industry for all, regardless of background.

The conference will be a good cross-section of people from the international film and TV industry, academia and the student body.

The conference will encompass keynote talks, breakout panels, screenings and practical workshops to inspire both academics and practitioners:
