This engaging, action-packed full-day course not only delivers a comprehensive overview of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion ‘best practice’ for schools, it also equips you with the skills and resources to deliver the same training to your school staff. The small group working environment creates the space to explore the topic in a safe, open and relaxed manner, delivered by an outstanding teacher and facilitator who brings knowledge, expertise and passion.
The training provides participants with:
· A thorough understanding of the moral and legal duties to create a safe, welcoming and respectful school environment for all
· Real case studies and discussions to explore how to proactively eliminate barriers/ discrimination/ bias in the curriculum, in school policies and in day-to-day communications

· The strategies to embed EDI best practice into planning, resourcing and delivering inclusive learning
· The confidence to equip pupils to understand and respect differences, preparing them for life in modern Britain as engaged and respectful citizens
· The knowledge and skills to facilitate EDI training
· Ready-made lesson plans and resources with facilitation notes and training packs for you to use to train your own staff
Who is it for?
This course is ideal for teachers, EDI leaders and senior leaders working in a UK- based state or independent primary or secondary school, who have a passion for the subject and a commitment to embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
Aims of the course:
· Develop the knowledge and skills to deliver EDI training to your staff
· Explore facilitation strategies and skills to reduce conflict and gain ‘buy-in’ from staff when delivering training
· Be able to support staff to generate a whole school EDI action plan
During the training you will also cover the following aims, before delivering on the same aims with your staff:
· Gain an understanding of the key concepts of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
· Explore the benefits of embedding EDI
· Develop an understanding of the equality legislation
· Explore the nine protected characteristics
· Understand what constitutes unlawful discrimination
· Develop strategies for proactively preventing and tackling inappropriate language and behaviour
· Examine how unconscious bias can manifest in a school setting and how to reduce it
· Explore strategies and practical ideas for embedding EDI best practice across the school to proactively create an environment where pupils value and respect differences and where they feel safe, valued and included

· Exploration of unconscious bias: Where it comes from and how it shapes judgements, language, behaviours, curriculum design and decision-making
· Stereotyping and omission as manifestations of bias
· How to interrupt, reduce and challenge unconscious bias
· Where to get additional EDI information and support
· How to reduce conflict and manage challenge in a training session
· Exercising self-care as a trainer
