Event description

Description

Code Club is a network of free, volunteer-led, after school computing clubs for 9-13 year olds. We are part of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, a charity which works to put the power of digital making into the hands of people all over the world.

Taster and Training sessions are fun, friendly and informal gatherings for teachers, community leaders, volunteers and young persons (9-13 years old) interested in finding out more about what we do.

If you are planning on hosting a club at your school or community centre, then come along and say hello; this is a chance for you to ask questions and try Scratch (the application we use to teach coding to children) for yourself.

Or if you'd like to get involved in running a Code Club then come along and find out more.

Code Club is for children aged 9-13 years old, these taster sessions will help you decide if you like Code Club and want to join the Library Club run on Tuesdays and Thursday's 3.45-4.45pm. Or if you want to help start a Code Club at your primary or secondary school.

Code Club staff will be on hand to answer any questions you have about starting or running a club.

If you have any questions in advance of the event, please get in touch via southwest@codeclub.org.uk or @codeclubsw on Twitter.

There will be a short intro presentation covering Code Club, Scratch and intro to Micro:Bit.

Session 1 (2.30-3.45pm) on 15th and 22nd August using Scratch.

Session 2 (4-5.15pm) on 15th and 22nd August using Micro:Bit.

If demand is high, further sessions will be organised.
