About this Event

Training the Community Musician 2020 is the second in a series of symposiums delivered by Sound Sense in partnership with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance, University of Aberdeen and Edinburgh Youth Music Forum.

The symposium brings together practitioners who teach Community Music in formal, informal and non-formal sectors.

Following on from the 2019 symposium, this symposium continues to use Open Space facilitation to ensure delegate are fully engage and involved with the discussions. The symposium will also offer presentations and round table discussions.

We aim to continue the conversation from 2019 and will explore three strong themes:

1. What are the essential and desirable skills required by Community Music Standards (Community Music Standards)

2. Within training, what is the balance between training the person and training the musician?

3. What is Community Musicians Duty of Care; to self and others?
