Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak recently extended the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (Furlough Scheme) to March 2021 due to thousands of businesses across the UK having been directly affected by restrictions to slow the spread of COVID19.

Many businesses are having to make challenging decisions regarding their workforce, cutting staff hours, making redundancies, and placing employees on ‘furlough’.

The psychological impact of staff being furloughed is now being brought to light with new statistics being shared regularly. With 55% of those furloughed feeling a loss of purpose, and 59% reporting a loss of connection with one’s firm.
