Event description
Celebrated writer & campaigner Juno Roche joins us for the Edinburgh launch of her new book Trans Power: Own Your Gender!

About this Event

Juno Roche's work around gender, sexuality and trans lives has been praised as 'provocative, cutting edge and innovative'. Her first book Queer Sex came out to rave reviews "simply phenomenal” - Bitch Media and now she's back with Trans Power: Own Your Gender.

Join us to celebrate trans identities with Juno as she pushes the boundaries of the binary, redefining what it means to be trans.

Refreshing and poignant, Juno's new book reflects the diversity of trans identities and urges readers to recognise trans identities as ones that hold power and provide autonomy. Trans Power is a necessary read for all those interested in the future of gender.

'All those layers of expectation that are thrust upon us; boy, masculine, femme, transgender, sexual, woman, real, are such a weight to carry round. I feel transgressive. I feel hybrid. I feel trans.' - Juno Roche

Juno Roche is a writer and campaigner for trans rights. She is founder of Trans Workers UK and the Trans Teachers Network.

Praise for the book:

"In Trans Power, Juno Roche shows us the space we already have to be ourselves. Juno Roche's trans superpower is generosity - from the very first pages, I felt a deep sense of kinship, of being welcomed into an intimate conversation about what it can mean to be trans. Trans Power is a respite, a compendium of maps to the new place, a portal for seekers and makers of liberation." - Andrea Lawlor, author of Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl

"Trans Power really captures the diversity of the trans experience- essential reading for people who want to gain a better understanding of trans people or for trans people trying to better understand themselves."- Charlie Craggs, activist and author of To My Trans Sisters
