Trans & Queer Grief Café
Overview
a space for ugly, messy, unruly grief and rage
Venue information will be provided to ticket-holders shortly before the event.
You're welcome to sign up for this using a nickname -- we don't need your legal name -- and you can use an email alias from addy.io or simplelogin.io if you don't want to share your email address.
It is MANDATORY to take a covid lateral flow test (~£2.50 from a pharmacy) before this event. If you haven't taken one, you'll be asked to do so when you arrive. Tests will be provided.
Come and express grief, sadness, anger and longing. We'll facilitate a space for communal crying, wailing and trembling, followed by some decompression time with hot drinks, snacks and art supplies.
ACCESSIBILITY
Brown's Field is wheelchair-accessible throughout, with an accessible toilet. There'll be seating for all attendees.
All toilets will be gender-neutral for the event.
Please do not come along if you feel ill in ways that are unusual for you. We strongly encourage masking to reduce the transmission of illness, and will provide masks, but understand this may not be practical given the nature of the event. Covid lateral flow testing before the event is mandatory - we can provide a test if you can't get one, and we will ask you to remain masked at least until your test result. We will have several air purifiers running in the venue.
The event is likely to be loud and emotionally intense. We will provide earplugs. You are welcome to enter and leave as you like, and we will have people on hand to help you calm down and decompress after the facilitated grief space.
There's plenty of bike parking, and 15 parking spaces including one disabled space, outside the venue. Several buses stop nearby on Milton Road, including the PR5 from Emmanuel Street and T1 from Drummer St, and the Citi 2 bus stops on Green End Road. If you need help planning your route, or funds for accessible travel, please get in touch.
We do not have a BSL interpreter for the event. The facilitator will be unmasked, and you are welcome to sit in the best position to hear and/or lip-read. The room has a hearing loop - please let us know in advance if you'd like us to use this. All organisers will be happy to wear any personal/portable hearing loop or mic transmitter you might want to bring with you.
If you have any accessibility questions, requests or suggestions at all, please get in touch! We'll do our best to accommodate.
