Psychotherapy courses at Iron Mill College

The Certificate in Transactional Analysis, (TA) Theory and Practice, (CTAP) is a foundation year training from which students can progress to advanced training including the Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy. The course is divided into nine weekends and provides ways of looking at ourselves and our relationships, as a way of understanding our histories, dynamics and how we communicate.

TA is an integrative approach to psychotherapy grounded in a humanistic philosophy, yet drawing on psychoanalytical ideas. It was originated by Eric Berne in the 1950s and developed by others through the decades.

Some of the concepts include Ego States, Transactions, Psychological Games and Life Scripts. The programme uses examples from daily life with group exercises and opportunity for discussion and debate.

We offer a number of courses on TA including the introductory TA101, CTAP and a four year advanced psychotherapy course which leads to accredited qualifications in psychotherapy and Transactional Analysis.
