Event description
Dr Peter Sloman launches his new book Transfer State at the Basic Income Hub, with commentary by Barb Jacobson and Michael Pugh

About this Event

Universal Basic Income is a hot topic of debate in 2020, but what can policy makers and activists learn from the history of basic income proposals in the UK?

Dr Peter Sloman (University of Cambridge) will explore this question at the London launch of his new book, Transfer State: The Idea of a Guaranteed Income and the Politics of Redistribution in Modern Britain. Peter will be joined on the panel by Barb Jacobson and Michael Pugh. Barb is a Director at Basic Income UK and has been a prominent basic income activist for many years and Michael Pugh is the Co-Founder and Director of the Basic Income Hub, a new initiative powered by Compass.

As well as presentations and reflections from the panel, there will be a Q&A and a chance for networking as Basic Income Hub looks to set up a more regular basic income meet up group in London. Copies of the book will also be on sale at a discounted price.
