‘Strategy into Action’ series with Perry Timms
We’re delighted to have secured the well known thought leader Perry Timms (rated Number 1 Most Influential HR Thinker by HR Magazine) to run this series of short sessions aimed at OD and Senior HR, Change and Strategy Professionals and Practitioners
This series has been designed to support HR and OD colleagues who are currently support organisational change and system transformation with the key skills and core competencies required to lead change from a people perspective. The sessions have been specifically designed to run as a series so you are welcome to come to all 4 sessions or just one.
- Organisation Design 24th July 9.30 - 12.30
- Consulting skills 11th Sept 9.30 - 12.30
- Strategic Narrative 6th Nov 9.30 - 12.30
- Workflows Using Agile Working 14th Jan 9.30 - 12.30
These will be practical, exercise driven sessions, focused on skills not roles and including a focus on using digital, AI and tech.
Organisation Design 24th July 9.30 - 12.30
Organisation Design as Version Controlled change
Aim: Build more dynamic Organisation Design into the flow of change as version-controlled, interactive, and adaptive upgrades, to create more aligned function, form, and flow in an ever-shifting world of work.
Objectives: Understand the distinction between ongoing Organisation Development and the stimulus, need and application of more dynamic Organisation Design.
Outcome: We are more assured and confident in applying distinctive Organisation Design outside of the obvious need as part of Organistional Transformation, and more in the flow of iterative and adaptive change.
We are capable and comfortable in using tools, methods and theories as part of the diagnostic, dialogic and design aspects of ongoing change and continuous improvement activities.
We more deeply understand the use of Mintzberg’s Nine Parameters for Organisation Design and its part in avoiding convulsive restructures.
Target audience:
OD and Senior HR, Change and Strategy Professionals and Practitioners.
Prework:
A review of any recent transformation, change, continuous improvement and restructure activities.
Familiarity with Henry Mintzberg’s Structuring in Sevens and Nine Parameters.
Consulting skills 11th Sept 9.30 - 12.30
Consulting Skills in a more complex world of HR and OD
Aim: Build on conventional consulting skills - questioning, critical thinking, analysis and diagnostic capabilities - to better reflect a more turbulent and complex world of work.
Objectives: Understand emerging tools, techniques and sciences around more probing and revealing consultancy skills to navigate complexity better, handle volatility and manage paradoxes and polarities.
Outcome: We are more assured and confident in applying additional consulting approaches using more emerging theories and methods in consulting conversations, consulting practice and advisory roles to strategic leaders and their teams
We feel comfortable using new tools, methods and theories as part of the diagnostic, dialogic and design aspects of ongoing strategic, relational and operational challenges the organisation and teams face.
We more deeply understand the use of Systems Thinking and its part in helping resolve complex operational and relational challenges.
Target audience:
OD and Senior HR, Change and Strategy Professionals and Practitioners.
Prework:
A review of any recent high-stakes projects, work and programmes of change.
Familiarity with a broad understanding of what Systems Thinking is and how it is applied.
Strategic Narrative 6th Nov 9.30 - 12.30
Strategic Narrative as the clarifying statement of intent, action and impact.
Aim: Create a stronger sense and skill in compiling, analysing and using data, evidence and stories that are crafted into the most compelling and clear narrative for any form of change, transformation and strategy that builds a stronger and more adaptive future form for the organisation and its people.
Objectives: Evidence-based critical thinking, deep analysis of all forms of data and crafting powerful and clear stories that form into a Strategic Narrative that brings clarity and momentum to our future selves.
Outcome: We are clear on the use of data and evidence, science and rhetorical devices that help us craft a stronger narrative for strategies for change and transformation.
We are capable and comfortable in story-telling techniques that frame and guide our people through turbulence, uncertainty and direction-setting.
We more deeply understand the use of vision into action and how a strong Strategic Narrative both compels and guides our communication, interaction and action.
Target audience:
OD and Senior HR, Change and Strategy Professionals and Practitioners.
Prework:
A review of any recent communication and strategies, and what narratives were utilised in them.
Familiarity with storytelling frameworks.
Workflows Using Agile Working 14th Jan 9.30 - 12.30
Agile as our adaptive and assuring workflow system
Aim: Utilise Agile Sprint-Based working in projects, programmes and workflows to balance pace, complexity and participation to create capacity through iterative planning.
Objectives: Understanding how Agile works in the complex and multi-faceted world of HR and OD work and how it can help us with workloads, inclusion and balanced productivity to secure stronger outcomes and impact.
Outcome: We are more assured and confident in applying Agile techniques in the context of our work in ongoing HR and OD projects and workflows
We are capable and comfortable in using Agile’s tools, methods and practices to better handle resource and activity planning, participation and inclusion, innovation and adaptability.
We more deeply understand the roles of Products, Product Owners and Managers, Agile Coaches, Agile Teams and de-bureaucratised governance.
Target audience:
OD and Senior HR, Change and Strategy Professionals and Practitioners.
Prework:
A review of any recent projects especially those involving cross-functional teams
Familiarity with the Agile Manifesto and Scrum.

Perry Timms - Chief Energy Officer, People and Transformational HR (PTHR)
Perry Timms has over 30 years of experience in business change and performance, with the last 21 in HR/Organisation Development. He ranked Number 1 in HR's Most Influential Thinkers 2022 (his fifth inclusion in that list) and is now in the HR Most Influential Hall of Fame. He is a 4x Engagement 101 Global Influencer, a 4x Guest Professor, a 2x TEDx speaker, and a 2x Author (with his third book published in August 2025). Perry is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, a Fellow of the RSA and in 2024 was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in self-managed, democratic organisations. and a Global Culture Icon Award.
