Transformative Clay

Transformative Clay

By Tim Hewitt

Overview

An artistic and therapeutic workshop using natural clay.

This workshop will use clay soil dug from the churchyards to create up to two models or figures. These may be used to explore emotions or simply pleasing shapes.
The workshop will be lead and guided by local artist and teacher, Sarah Tyrer. She will guide a process of thinking, drawing, modelling and recording.
Models will be placed in the churchyard to form a year-long recorded process of transformation. We hope to make this the basis of a local exhibition. Participants will be able to take one of their models home too, if they prefer. The clay will be unfired, dry naturally and will crack, crumble and transform.
There will be a break for tea and coffee, which is provided. The workshop is indoors.
