This Transformative Communication Masterclass is all about how we can communicate to de-escalate, redirect and build positive relationships with children and young people.

Managing and supporting behaviours of distress or anxiety can be very tiring. It's also very exhausting for the child or young person who may need support to co-regulate and self-regulate.

What will be covered during the workshop?

During this masterclass, we'll identify how to utilise communication skills to support children and young people in their day to day lives. You'll learn ways to phrase or sequence sentences to reduce anxiety and facilitate choices. We'll go through different ways to communicate which can be framed to provide child centred care.

You'll be asked how you could use the ways in your day to day practice, learning from others and supporting others with your ideas.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for practitioners supporting children and young people who become dysregulated or distressed. It is for those willing to be vulnerable in reflecting on their past practice and to identify how they can transform their communication and their support when working with children and young people. This is not for you if you are looking for a training session where you are solely a listener. There will be opportunities for you to discuss and present how you would use the communication tools throughout. This is a collaborative masterclass on how we can better our communication skills.

I cannot promise you will learn anything new. You may have read several books or attended several webinars or masterclasses. This workshop is all about how we can better support children with our communication skills and help to de-escalate, redirect and build positive relationships. Why is it called transformative? Because these ways helped me when supporting children and young people in their family home, in social care settings and out and about exploring the local community.

Attendance: via the live session is mandatory to all sessions. You must be on time and must be at the session for the duration of the session(s) to ensure you receive a certificate. You should also participate and interactive throughout. We recommend you join the session between 10-15 minutes prior to the start time where possible. This is so you are able to navigate the session and account for any potential logging in issues.No refund will be offered for any attendee who does not attend their session. If a payment has not been made by a no-show, payment will be required immediately with any additional charge. Attendees joining the session late or leaving early will not be entitled to a transfer or refund.

Compatibility: it is best to join the live session with a desktop computer or laptop using Chrome. There may be some compatibility issues when attempting to access via a iPad, tablet or phone. It is the client's responsibility to ensure that the attendee(s) have suitable software, hardware and connectivity to join the session without issues. The trainer will allow time at the beginning of the session to talk attendees through the practical elements of using the virtual learning platform. Should an attendee be unable to continue with a session due to personal or technical capability issues, the virtual session will continue for other delegates and no refund will be provided. Should The Care Training Company trainer experience any technical difficulties that seriously impact the quality of the session for attendees, an alternative session will be arranged.

Certificates: will be distributed by The Care Training Company and be emailed across shortly after the completion of any assessments. Certificates will be certificates of attendance.

Cooling off period: The Care Training Company has a 14 day cooling off period for individual bookings. You can cancel or rearrange your live session within 14 days of your booking, though if you access the online software, you will not be eligible for a refund as you will have had access to some of the content.
