Thank you for your interest in Blackpool Better Start's 2019 Annual Conference - 'Transforming Blackpool Together: How Evidence Is Changing Our Town'.

Blackpool Better Start's 5th annual conference is aimed at everyone who works with families and children aged 0-4 years in Blackpool and it is free of charge.

This one day event will feature speakers and workshops that will focus on how an evidence-based approach is shaping the town's future.

Professor Frank Oberklaid - Co-Group Leader of Child Health Policy, Equity and Translation at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and a Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne - will be chairing the event as well as delivering a keynote on 'Evidence-based Programme, Practice and Processes'.

Speakers include:

  • Alan Stein, Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, University of Oxford
  • Leon Feinstein, Director of Evidence at the Children's Commissioner's Office
  • Wendy Nicholson MBE, National Lead Nurse Children, Young People & Families and Deputy Head of World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Public Health Nursing and Midwifery
  • Barry Knight, Author of 'Rethinking Poverty: What Makes a Good Society'
  • Neil Jack, Chief Executive, Blackpool Council

Workshops will further explore the key themes and how these are being implemented in Blackpool through the Better Start partnership, including speech & language and health visiting.
