On 13 March 2024, the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) will host the Transforming Energy Access Forum in Kigali, dedicated to advancing an inclusive clean energy transition in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and the Indo-Pacific region. The event aims to address the challenges outlined in the UN’s SDG midpoint review which emphasised the need for accelerated progress in achieving SDG7.

Bringing together clean energy innovators and key decision-makers from across government, policy and investment, the Forum seeks to enhance collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Through keynotes, panels and thematic sessions, the agenda will focus on sharing tangible insights from across the Transforming Energy Access (TEA) platform and programmes supported via the Ayrton Fund to foster informed decision-making.

Attendees at the Forum will be welcomed by Steven Hunt, Senior Energy Innovation Advisor, UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), followed by remarks from the British High Commissioner to Rwanda, His Excellency Omar Daair OBE.

Keynote addresses will be delivered by influential speakers Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, and Co-Chair of UN-Energy and Dr Jimmy Gasore, Minister of Infrastructure at the Government of Rwanda.

We also welcome the participation of the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF), CEO, Victoria Sabula, Head of the University of Rwanda’s African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACEESD), Emmanuel Ufiteyezu, and Amaury Fastenakels, Chief Commercial Officer, Bboxx in a stimulating panel discussion that will focus on the theme of Powering Inclusive Growth: Maximising the clean energy transition for climate compatible socio-economic development.

The panel will be expertly moderated by Dr Albert Butare, CEO, Africa Energy Services Group.
