Transforming Food Systems with Local Food
Date and time
Location
Online event
Hear how making small positive changes to the way we think about, shop for and cook food can transform us into food citizens.
About this event
The food citizenship movement challenges the assumption that we’re mere economic consumers of food. As food citizens, we can collectively shape the food system into one that treats animals humanely, protects the environment, and cares for the livelihoods of those who grow and make our food, but that doesn’t mean food shouldn’t still be enjoyable too.
Lyndsay Cochrane of the Slow Food Youth Network will discuss how a food movement of young people is creating a good, clean & fair food future in Scotland & beyond.
Executive chef at Monachyle Mhor and graduate of the Wild Wonders programme, Marysia Paszkowska, will share her experience of learning to forage the Scottish landscape for free food and seasonal flavours.
Miesbeth Knottenbelt of Nourish Scotland will discuss a recent pilot project that learned about the wider challenges to accessing local food, and what can be done to meet these challenges
This event is ideal for anyone who wants to hear how to take action every meal time to protect our environment, improve our health, and add flavour to life.
Talks will be followed by an informal Q&A session.
