Bradford College Teachers & Advisors Conference

About this Event

As a teacher or advisor, this conference will provide you with a greater understanding of Access & Participation initiatives within Higher Education institutions and an understanding of the benefits to your school/community setting.

You will receive information and updates about the regional partnership, Go Higher West Yorkshire and the National Collaborative Outreach Project.

This is an opportunity for you to develop your knowledge around supporting under-represented groups into HE (and FE) and allow you to create links with other colleagues who are passionate about widening participation.

Programme:

9.30am Arrival with tea, coffee and breakfast

9.45am Welcome from our Vice Principal (Growth & Development), Dawn Leak

10.00am Introduction to the Bradford College Admissions and Engagement Teams and services – Anthony Smith, Head of Student Recruitment, Bradford College. This will include a demonstration of our digital Progression Package by Virtual College and a preview of our new online application form.

10.30am Access & Participation Plans explained – Charlotte Cooper-Nairn, Engagement Manager, Bradford College

Overview of key features of Bradford College’s 19/20 and 20-25 plans.

11.00am Understanding the needs of under-represented groups – Sarah Applewhite, Head of Quality

Explore a variety of under-represented groups identified as priorities by the Office for Students and the University Centre Bradford College.

11.30am Go Higher West Yorkshire – Helen Sykes, Go Higher West Yorkshire Manager

An update about the partnership and NCOP progress from Helen Sykes, GHWY Manager.

12.00pm Attainment Raising for Pre-16 – Naweed Hussain, Access & Participation Officer, Bradford College

The Engagement Team will share their offer of attainment raising activities in support of the Bradford School Improvement Strategy, including a short taster session aimed at your students

12.20pm Contextual Admissions – Naomi Sharples, Assistant Principal HE

An update on our plans for contextual admissions and how this can support your students in their journey to higher education

12.30pm Lunch

Enjoy a 2 course festive meal in the College's Grove Restaurant.
