Transgender and Gender Identity Awareness Seminar
Event Information
About this Event
Wolds Pride are back for our fifth workshop throughout LGBT+ history month!
Within this seminar, Wolds Pride will be collaborating with members of the transgender community within the local area to raise transgender and gender identity awareness. We will be highlighting key facts and figures about both of these topics, and hearing first hand experiences of living daily as a trans individual within the Wolds.
We will be discussing:
- Defining what is "trans/transgender".
- Identifying key moments within trans history.
- Highlighting historical figures and icons within the trans community.
- Statistics on trans hate crimes and death rates.
- Trans rights and equality throughout the world and in the UK.
- The processes involved to becoming legally acknowledged as your gender.
- What is gender identity?
- What are the different forms of gender identity?
Wolds Pride are committed to providing transgender people within the area a platform and voice to share their experiences and first hand knowledge; information that we feel is vital and vastly important within LGBTQIA+ education.
All above the age of 18+ are welcome to attend this workshop.
This workshop may contain some statistics and information that some attendees may find upsetting or shocking. Any abuse or hate will not be tolerated, and any attendees presenting such behaviour will be removed by the administrator immediately.
