Transition to Adult Care: Information & Connection Event
Hosted by Harry’s Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust (Harry’s HAT) and the Neurosurgical Team at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
This special event is designed for children and young people aged 12–15 who have hydrocephalus and are currently under the care of Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, along with their families and carers.
Our aim is to bring families together to learn more about what to expect when transitioning into adult neurosurgical care. This will be a unique opportunity to:
- Meet the teams from both Bristol Children’s Hospital and adult care providers.
- Ask questions in a safe, open environment.
- Hear from experts and discuss what the transition process involves.
- Connect with other families going through a similar journey.
There will be separate sessions for parents/carers and young people, designed to offer relevant information, answer questions, and provide space for discussion, concerns, and shared experiences.
✅ Free admission — includes lunch, refreshments, and a visit to the Concorde Museum!🎁 Plus, expect a few extra treats on the day.🤝 Local and national charities, BrainLab, and shunt manufacturers are also expected to attend.
