Transition to Bit-Free Riding
Come join us at the Northumberland College Equestrian Centre for a fun and informative event on transitioning to bit-free riding! The session will include theory and practical sections and is aimed at helping coaches support clients who are choosing to rider bit-free or are interested in exploring bit-free options. We will spend an hour looking at the research behind bit-free bridles and the bridle designs. We will then go out to the yard and school for the second half of the session, fit some of the bridles and then look at how to introduce previously bitted horses to bit-less riding safely to help ensure any changes are a positive experience all round am. There will be a ridden demonstration to conclude with school horses who routinely work bit-free.
Dorothy Heffernan, a World Bitless Association endorsed trainer is joining us to lead a bit-free workshop. Dorothy is a member of the Pet Professional Guild, offering training to horse owners who would like to resolve a whole range of behaviour issues from handling, loading, to issues under saddle. She adheres to the LIMA protocol (Least Intrusive ,Minimally Aversive) and is also an Endorsed Trainer of the World Bitless Association, helping owners transition to bitless riding using positive reinforcement techniques. She is a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society. She has 3 equine friends of her own so understands the day to day health, behaviour, management and weather challenges horse owners face!
Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with like-minded riders and enhance your riding experience. See you there!
