Description

SPECIALIST PANEL: TRANSITIONING SKILLS INTO A CHANGING WORK ENVIRONMENT

Greater Lincolnshire has low unemployment, but workforce qualification levels and wages both lag significantly behind the UK average. As the whole economy is transformed by new technology which merges the digital and physical worlds, through the transition to Industry 4.0, how can Greater Lincolnshire ensure that skills do not hold back its potential to embrace these changes. If embraced successfully these changes can increase wage rates, improve job quality and deliver economic growth. This panel will look at what changes need to be made in the education system and by employers to deliver a higher skilled, higher wage economy.

Chair: Debbie Barnes, (Lincolnshire CC)

Panellists: Naomi Clayton (Learning & Work Institute), Chris Baron (Butlins), Janet Bellamy (NcFM), Mark Noonan (CITB), Freddie Chambers (Lindum)
