Children are amazing in their capacity to adapt, they have had to be; but exposure to early adversity in childhood such as abuse and neglect in childhood and the loss of significant people in their lives affects all areas of a child’s development, their attachment patterns, and their belief about self and can have far reaching developmental consequences (Grotevant and McDermott, 2014; Rutter, 2005; Neil, young and Hartley, 2018).

Across Wales, practice in transitions to adoption has been changing in response to a growing body of research that calls for a more evidenced based approach that allows for greater planning and scrutiny and is in the best interests of each child. The guide looks to promote good practice in Wales along with key principles from evidence based models of transitions, Moving to Adoption (University of East Anglia) and “By your side” (The Family Place) that intertwine to offer an attachment and trauma informed framework for navigating transitions to adoption and a coordinated approach for early support.

This event will examine the key messages from the Transitions and Early Support Good Practice Guide and, using a detailed case study, look at the implications for practice from both a multi disciplinary and single discipline perspective. We will be sharing examples of what works well and any specific challenges that need to be addressed.

Mae’r canllaw hwn yn amlygu arferion gorau yng Nghymru, ynghyd ag egwyddorion allweddol o fodelau pontio seiliedig ar dystiolaeth, Moving to Adoption (Prifysgol Dwyrain Anglia) a “By your Side” (The Family Place) sy’n dod at ei gilydd i gynnig fframwaith seiliedig ar ymlyniad a thrawma ar gyfer delio â phontio i fabwysiadu a dull cydlynol ar gyfer cymorth cynnar.

Bydd y digwyddiad hwn yn archwilio negeseuon allweddol y Canllaw Arferion Da Pontio a Chymorth Cynnar, gan ddefnyddio astudiaeth achos manwl, yn edrych ar y goblygiadau ar gyfer ymarfer o safbwynt amlddisgyblaethol ac un ddisgyblaeth. Byddwn yn rhannu enghreifftiau o'r hyn sy'n gweithio'n dda ac unrhyw heriau penodol y mae angen mynd i'r afael â hwy.
