Event description
To give colleagues in both schools/colleges and universities an opportunity to network, discuss key issues in psychology and collaborate

About this Event

The event will take place during the afternoon/evening, giving people a chance to attend after work without having to miss work. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

You will be asked to discuss various issues and think of practical solutions. Please consider the following questions before coming to the event

• Similarities and differences in teaching style – what works best, what can we learn from each other? How aware are we of how the other sectors teach? Are our students prepared for potential differences in teaching styles? What restraints are there on our teaching styles? (e.g. size of classes, edicts from senior leadership ESTYN requirements)

• How can we best prepare students at school/college AND support them once they get to university with the transition?

• How much overlap is there from A level (or equivalent) to the first year of undergraduate degree – how can those with a qualification in psychology be kept engaged?

• What skills do we teach our students that are common across both sectors? How do we maximize the impact of those skills?

• How can we collaborate across the two sectors? (e.g. observe each other’s teaching? Run joint research projects?)
