Description

Translation Toolkit: But my research is too fundamental?

Want to engage with industry but think your research is too ‘blue-sky’ to be translatable? Come along to learn how even basic fundamental science can be turned into a commercial product, and how sometimes innovation can come from the most surprising places.

Bristol's Research Enterprise and Development (RED) team will guide you through the different avenues available to you to translate your research and achieve maximum impact from your work.

Follow this up by hearing BBSRC's Innovator of the year Dr Shelby Temple talk about how his research into the way octopuses see light led to him to commercialise a product to help diagnose age-related macular degeneration.

If you still aren’t convinced about the translatability of your research, stay for a chance to talk with the speakers and discuss your own research with staff at RED over lunch.

There is limited space available so register for free here to attend the ‘But is my research too fundamental’, cake and refreshments included!

Translation Toolkit series

Are you interested in opportunities to work with industry and how to build collaborations? Translation Toolkit is a series of seminars that will provide you with the tools you need to engage with industry and translate your research. Brought to you by those who have done it before, learn the tips for success and pitfalls to avoid, from that first conversation with a potential collaborator to securing IP and developing a commercial product.

Over six sessions we will give you the tools you need to translate your research and the chance to learn about the different opportunities available to early career researchers in Bioscience and Health Sciences at the University of Bristol.

Register and attend 4 out of 6 sessions to achieve a Certificate of attendance
