TransSober: Lego Building Workshop

Come to The Cornerstone for a free Lego building exercise to explore your creativity and connect with others. This in-person event at Cornerstone Community Centre is a great opportunity to unwind, have fun, explore your relationship with drugs and alchol and build something awesome with Legos. Whether you're a seasoned Lego pro or just starting out, everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Let's build some memories together!

Hosted by TransSober and Katherine Perrin who has helped many people work together more closely and find deeper connection with one another for the last 15 years. This has been done primarily in the world of charitable organisations and businesses, but the lessons she teaches – and questions she asks – are relevant in all contexts. However, her methodology is uniquely quirky: she uses Lego as a tool to aid interaction and communication!

Using Lego, Katherine has offered a rare chance for us to try out this fun way of exploring ideas together. Our group will be posed questions exploring drug and alcohol use in our lives. Members of the group will then use the Lego bricks provided to model answers, both individually and as a whole group.

There’s no right or wrong answer, and there’s no requirement of skill. All you’re encouraged to do is to let go of your inhibitions and engage in a fun activity – and maybe learn something about the people in your community… or even yourself!

This FREE one-off event is happening at Cornerstone on Thursday 14th May, 11.30am – 2.00pm. Refreshments and snacks will be provided – at no charge! If you’re interested in finding out more, please contact events@transsober.org. The event is bookable on our Eventbrite page.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Frequently asked questions

Is the venue accessible for the disabled?

Yes! The Cornerstone is fully wheelchair accessible.

What are the public travel links to the venue?

Most of the buses that run through town come down Western Road and stop just around the corner from The Cornerstone. For example, the 5, 5A, the 46 and 49 buses all travel to Palmeira Square, right by the venue.

I'm not very good at creative/arty stuff...

That's okay! You don't need to be super talented to access this group activity. Just be open and honest, and Katherine will do the rest!

Support with drug and alcohol use for the trans and non-binary community

Finding a space that you feel comfortable and safe when you’re trans or non-binary difficult enough, but is especially hard when it comes to peer support groups. My name is Vernon and I created TransSober to fill this gap and ensure the TNBI community get the peer support they need around drug and alcohol use.
