About this event
Ando Glaso invites you to celebrate Roma people and culture on International Roma Day with some of the finest groups from Glasgow's diverse Roma communities.
The evening will take you on a journey to the heart of Roma communities with the help of:
Taraful din Glasgow - a group of Roma musicians from the Bihor region of Transylvania playing authentic Gypsy music on their traditional instruments such as the horn violin. With the help of dance caller Tamas Ferencz you will be able to join the dances and experience a real village party from Transylvania.
Ando Glaso Collective - a group bringing together some of the best musicians from the various Polish, Slovak, Romanian, Hungarian Roma communities. The group has been working as Artits In Residence as part of a wider project by Glasgow Life. They will showcase the exciting material the group has been working on during this project exploring each others vibrant Gypsy music traditions.
You will also have the opportunity to sample authentic Roma cuisine during the night!
