About this event

Trauma awareness training helps us understand what happened in an individual's past, build trust, prevent re-traumatisation, and empower those we support.

Join us for this in-person training session, where you enhance your understanding of how early life experiences can affect children's mental health and behaviour.

About the session

During the session, we will cover a range of key concepts and practical tools, including:

  • First and second year attachment cycles
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study
  • Jaak Panksepp's Emotional system
  • Positive Language and Interactions
  • Degrees of stress and shield of shame
  • Impact of toxic shame
  • Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy (PACE)
  • Dr Ross Greene's Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) model

About the trainer

Your trainer for this session will be Adam Glover, a Trauma Informed Practitioner (TISUK) and Attachment Lead (Touch Base) working in a local Somerset Multi Academy Trust.

Adam has led the creation and implementation of a Trust-wide SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) strategy, including training, resources, and ongoing support. He is committed to helping all children thrive in education, and advocates for a whole-school, trauma-informed approach that emphasises positive relationships, empathy with boundaries, and emotionally available adults.

Tickets for this session are freely available to staff and volunteers from VCFSE organisations in Somerset, and will be of particular interest to those who work with young people, or support their mental wellbeing.
