Event description

Description

This event explores how social care practice can improve the wellbeing of individuals who are experiencing, or who have experienced childhood adversity or trauma. This topic is relevant to anyone who works with people in a supportive role, for example teachers, care workers and social workers. We will introduce you to trauma informed care as a new way of supporting people in situations where change is difficult to achieve.

Using the World Café format, we will bring together a range of people in a creative and open space where you can exchange ideas, learn from each other and develop new strategies. We’ll also feature talks from service users and expert practitioners, as well as workshop activities that will give you a chance to reflect on your own experiences. Beyond this event, we want to create a community of practice, implementing all we have learned to support those who have experienced trauma.

This event is run by Sally Lee and Stefan Kleipoedszus as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2019, organised by Bournemouth University.

This event is FREE to attend but registration is required.
