This 2.5-hour online training session on trauma-informed practice in museum and heritage learning environments is designed for professionals who already have had an introduction to the subject. It will go beyond basic trauma awareness to offer a deeper, more practice-focused exploration of how trauma-informed approaches can shape ethical, supportive and inclusive museum learning.
Participants will engage with up-to-date theory and group reflection - gaining tools and insights they can apply directly to their work. The training will include a guest speaker from the sector and a facilitated breakout session to encourage shared learning.
Aims of the session
● Deepen participants’ understanding of trauma and its relevance to museum and heritage settings.
● Support museum learning professionals to recognise trauma responses and respond to distress with confidence, care and professional boundaries.
● Share practical case studies
● Highlight the importance of partnership working and personal wellbeing
This session is designed for a mixed group of museum and heritage learning and engagement staff including - freelancers, managers and programme leads.
