Please note that this session will be held over two days.

Please make sure to inform your Workforce Lead and line manager before signing up for this session.


It is imperative, due to the very sensitive nature of this training, that those signing up are able to attend both sessions for the cohort they have booked.

The dates for this cohort will be:

29th Janurary 2026 and 12th February 2026 (09:30 - 16:30)


This training addresses the need for practitioners to become more trauma-informed:

more adept at recognising where people are affected by trauma and adversity

better able to respond in ways that prevent further harm while supporting recovery

and capable of addressing inequalities and improving life chances.


This training will be held over 2 full day sessions covering the following content:

Topics:

What is Trauma Informed Practice,Why we want to work in this way (drivers, research, what children and families say, local commitment to the approach)

Principles and Definitions of TIP

How trauma manifests and types of traumaSummary of baby, child and teenage brain development

Overview of Adverse Childhood Experiences (what we know from research and how this relates to working in a trauma informed way)

The principles of TIP – Recognise, Respond, Avoid re traumatizationBuild resilience, Repair, Trauma responses, Window of tolerance,Nervous system

Unconditional positive regard, Empathy and worker skillsHow to respond to trauma - practice skills in safely coming alongside clients and co regulation

Tools to use in practice to understanding trauma responses

The Trauma recovery model, Regulation and Co regulation, Avoiding re traumatisation, Building Resilience with clients

Working with recovery and resilience

How Trauma can affect staff, Compassion fatigue, Secondary and vicarious stress

Building resilience in ourselves and our team, Supervision
