  • Understand the challenges faced by UASC.
  • Learn the complexities of being looked after, leaving care and UASC
  • Explore trauma-informed practice and how it can be used effectively in social work interventions with UASC.
  • Identify practical tips for practitioners working with UASC, and pitfalls to avoid.
  • Explore self-care and how to manage the impact of working with trauma.

Speaker:

Dr Wuraola Bolaji is a psychoanalytically trained Doctor of Social Work. She is a trauma-informed Practitioner, Educator and Thought Leader. Wuraola has several years of experience managing Looked After Children and Leaving Care Teams. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire MSc and BSc social work programmes. She is also Admissions Lead for both programmes. Wuraola is passionate about improving outcomes for students, care-experienced young people and Unaccompanied Asylum- Seeking Children (UASC).
