Trauma, Transitions & English as an Additional Language: Supporting New Arrivals in School

London Designated Teacher Network Improving Educational Outcomes for Children Looked After

This session aims to give teachers the skills and tools they need to support new arrivals to thrive in their school community. Learning objectives and agenda to be released shortly, speakers include;

  • Dr Karen Treisman - Unaccompanied asylum-seeking and refugee young people's experience within learning and educational contexts

  • Glebe School and the Institute for Education - Closing the gap for EAL pupils

The London Network for Designated Teachers is working closely with Virtual School Heads, to share best practice and research on improving educational outcomes for children looked after.

This session is run in collaboration with Croydon Virtual School. The network has been set up as part of the London Schools Excellence Hub for looked after children, funded by the Greater London Authority.
