Is there a charge for attending?

Yes, tickets are £8 per person with the all proceeds donated to charity. This includes the exclusive tour of the Oates Collection on a first come first served basis and access to the house and gardens. Places are limited, so book early to guarantee your spot.

What charity are you donating to?

We're splitting the proceeds, with half being donated to Penguin Watch and half to the Gilbert White “Fund for the Future”.

What times are the exclusive tours of the Oates Collection?

There are three tours in total, at 4.30pm, 5.00pm & 5.30pm. Pre-booking is essential as slots are limited.

Can I just attend the evening talks, without visiting Gilbert White House & Museum during the day?

Yes! This event offers lots of flexibility. You can either spend the whole day at the venue, come along for the escorted ‘behind-the-scenes’ tours, or just turn up for the evening talks.

How do I get there?

Gilbert White’s House & Gardens is in Selborne, Hampshire. The village is on the B3006 which is accessible via the A31 and the A3. Parking is available onsite. Alternatively, the nearest train stations are Alton and Liss. Both have regular trains to and from London Waterloo.

Is there parking on-site?

Yes, there is free parking. Please register your vehicle when booking. The car park is about a 2-minute walk to the museum & gardens, then another 2-minutes back to the evening event venue. If you are only coming along for the evening, the venue is situated right next to the car park.

How accessible is Gilbert White House Museum & Gardens?

From the car park, you will need to walk along a gravel path to access the venue. There are no lifts at the museum, so if you are unable to use stairs, we don't recommend attending the “behind-the scenes” tour as access is via a short set of stairs. However, there is lots to see on the ground floor.
