About this event

Community • County

Devon Wildlife Trust will begin creating rainforest thanks to a long-term partnership with Aviva. The105-year lease will allow Devon Wildlife Trust to afforest two-thirds of the land at Bowden Pillars with native species trees, to create new Atlantic rainforest.

Be part of this exciting venture by joining the Reserves team and Jasmine Atkinson, Saving Devons Treescapes Engagement Officer, in a morning of tree seed collecting. The seed you collect will be grown on at our tree nurseries and replanted at Bowden PIllars as part of the rainforest recovery project.

This woodland creation work is part of a wider partnership centred on Bowden Pillars Farm. Other aspects to the project include establishing a regenerative farm and eco village. The reforested landscape will sit perfectly alongside these other features, creating a truly holistic community based on the principles of living in balance with the natural environment.

*Booking Essential - you will be contacted in the event of cancellation due to extreme weather conditions*

Meeting point: By the junction of Fishchowters Lane and the bridleway just above Bowden Springs Farm, a staff member will be waiting by the fingerpost/ small waterfall to greet you.

This event is organised by Saving Devon's Treescapes, a project led by Devon Wildlife Trust on behalf of the Devon Ash Dieback Resilience Forum. Saving Devon’s Treescapes is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, this project aims to strengthen Devon's treescapes in the face of ash dieback disease. The project is working with Devon's communities, landowners and businesses to plant and nurture 250,000 trees outside of woodlands across Devon.

This project is also generously funded by One Tree Planted and other funders.
